Questions & Answers
What inspired you to start your business?
Growing up close to agriculture through my family’s roots in Mato Grosso, the heartland of Brazilian agriculture, it was clear that margins are driven as much by access as by productivity. Smaller producers consistently get worse pricing and credit because they lack scale and relationships. At the same time, the ag distribution layer is going through a structural shift, with margin compression and weakening control over the value chain. AI changes what is possible by allowing access, intelligence, and coordination to be replicated at scale. Vereda is built to redefine how agricultural commerce operates in this new paradigm.
How is your team uniquely positioned to solve the problem you're tackling?
Our edge comes from combining two worlds that rarely meet: agriculture and AI. We are building a team that is equally strong in both, and a culture that integrates deep technical execution with real industry context. We moved to Rio Verde, an agricultural hub in Brazil, to be embedded with customers and operate where decisions actually happen. We’ve been able to bring together former conversational AI founders and operators, alongside professionals with decades of experience in ag retail. This gives us a structural advantage in both building the product and navigating the industry.
What's a memorable 'aha' moment you've had while building your startup?
One of our earliest “aha” moments was realizing we didn’t need to build a new interface, we needed to meet users where they already were. In Brazil, WhatsApp is the operating system of agriculture, with over 96% of farmers using it daily. The moment we shifted to making WhatsApp our primary interface, engagement and responsiveness changed immediately. What felt like adopting a new tool became a natural extension of how they already work. That insight shaped Vereda into a conversational AI product embedded directly in their daily workflows.
