Questions & Answers

What inspired you to start your business?

In a previous CTO role, many users would email to say they found a partner on our app. One even named their dog after us! That particular story stuck with me; it reminds me that when we build tools that connect people, we can radically change the course of their lives. In the past few years I I developed a thesis that AI could transform how people meet in the real world—not by simulating relationships with chatbots, but by getting to know each person deeply and using that insight to spark more meaningful introductions. I knew I needed someone like Dini to help bring this vision to life. We were “set up” by a mutual friend and it was founder/market fit at first sight. We’re both passionate about harnessing this technology to help people who are serious about finding real connections. We're both deeply convicted about the power of these new tools to help people find something deeper.

How is your team uniquely positioned to solve the problem you're tackling?

Dini has a popular substack on Dating and Relationships, worked at Bumble India, and has a personal history of matchmaking couples. I've built *many* engineering teams, ran large engineering organizations at Snap, sold and acquired multiple companies, and scaled products from zero to hundreds of millions of users. I absolutely love building for people who are not like me - which is the most important thing when building for consumers. It's not about what I want, it's about understanding the audience and building what they need. I've got a lot of recent experience with the existing dating apps from the past few years of dating, which gives me empathy for our users. Put us together and we're extremely well positioned to build Sitch for a global audience!
