Questions & Answers

What inspired you to start your business?

For too long, we’ve conditioned kids to lie about their age just to access the internet. Every time they hit an age gate, they either fake their birthdate or get locked out. But let’s be real—kids are online. Instead of ignoring that, it’s time to create safer, legal, and age-appropriate experiences for them. That’s why we started k-ID. Kids and teens deserve an internet that works for them, no matter where they’re from—one that doesn’t force them to trade their privacy and safety for accessibility. We’re building the infrastructure to help platforms offer privacy-respecting, compliant, and kid-friendly experiences so they can explore, play, and connect safely and responsibly. The internet wasn’t built for kids, but we’re here to change that.

What sets you apart from others in your industry?

Most solutions focus on just one thing: finding the age signal. But knowing a user’s age is just the starting point. The real challenge—and what truly matters—is what happens next. At k-ID, we don’t stop at verifying a kid or teen's age. We help companies serve digital youths in a way that’s age-appropriate, privacy-first, and legally compliant. That means giving platforms the tools to adapt permissions, features, safety settings, and data practices based on a child’s age—so they can create experiences that are both engaging, responsible and still fun.
