CTO at Fearn

Angela Gao

Prior to Fearn, I completed my PhD at Caltech, studying AI and its mathematical underpinnings. My PhD thesis focused on developing physics-aligned generative models. I also worked at Google Research, where I developed proprietary AI models. At Fearn, I continue to develop rule-aligned models, but instead of physics alignments, our AI models are aligned to the rule of law.

Questions & Answers

How is your team uniquely positioned to solve the problem you're tackling?

Our team is bizarrely well-positioned to help the intellectual property community. My cofounder, Han Kim, has years of real-world experience drafting and prosecuting patents for one of the best IP practices in the world. He was also a PhD student at Caltech, where he studied bio-derived neural computing algorithms. Han and I actually met at Caltech, while I was completing my PhD on rule-aligned generative models. During my PhD, I published several peer-reviewed papers with my advisor, Dr. Katie Bouman, in the top AI conferences, including NeurIPS, CVPR, and TMLR. Previously, I also worked at Google Research, where I developed proprietary AI models. At Fearn, we've been fortunate enough to inspire a team of fellow PhDs, scientists, and engineers, to join us, all of whom come from the top technical institutions, including Caltech, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon.
