Questions & Answers
What's the story behind your company?
Too often, I've stood helpless in my clinic, watching patients ignore 'lifestyle modifications' that could change their disease. This hit me personally when my dad suffered from diabetes - leading to a stroke. It became my mission to reverse the dynamics of motivation and engagement around healthcare.
Can you share a distinctive achievement or highlight from your career?
I've found my first startup when I was 16, a water purification startup, presenting at the Intel Global Challenge. I went to med school with the intention to pursue entrepreneurship and learn the status quo of medicine. During medical school I've taught myself to code, built numerous apps and websites, and some of them got acquired. After being a medical doctor, I worked at Krafton, the largest gaming company in South Korea behind PUBG, as an engineer, tech lead, product manager, and then group lead. I've led a business division of 30 people and built and launched a text-based RPG game into a nationwide viral hit.
How is your team uniquely positioned to solve the problem you're tackling?
We are the best team in the world to build this. After graduating medical school, I was an engineer at Krafton, the biggest gaming company in South Korea, the company that built PUBG. I’ve teamed up with Chanwoo, a computer science PhD from MIT, and Ian, my coworker and tech lead from Krafton. Together, we bring the best of medicine and consumer to redefine how people interact with their health. This intersection of talents have been missing in this world, and we are the only team able to span the two.
