Questions & Answers
Why are you excited about your company/product?
Traverse3D uses reality capture technology + an AI that understands 3D content to rapidly build virtual training modules. This novel approach allows us to build these modules in a few days or weeks, compared to 6-18 months for traditional VR training companies. This is particularly exciting as we have already validated that this approach will let us expand the virtual training market into greenfield clients and use cases that have not yet been able to leverage 3D virtual content. Finding and determining how best to sell into this untapped market is a dream for a curious and eager-to-learn sales leader like myself.
What sets you apart from others in your industry?
In addition to our product differentiation, our focus on serving the DoD is a second differentiator. CEO James Brown's experience as an ex-Marine Infantry Officer, combined with my background as a policy advisor on Capitol Hill, gives us a unique advantage in navigating the complex DoD landscape. This focus on the DoD is a long-term competitive advantage, as breaking into this market is difficult for newcomers. Moreover, our strategy of directly engaging with the DoD as an end-user opens doors to their vendors. When the DoD, a major client, requests our technology, it naturally leads to warm introductions with their suppliers. These vendors are primed for sales, helping us overcome the typically long lead times associated with DoD-related business. This approach allows us to demonstrate our value and then expand our reach to a vendor's entire product line, including non-DoD related products. This strategy bakes in significant growth potential beyond our initial DoD focus.
What's a memorable 'aha' moment you've had while building your startup?
Traverse3D is a pioneering 3D modeling and simulation company, aiming to transform how humans and machines interact with the real world through virtual augmentation. While we have lofty long-term goals, we're also pragmatic in our approach, actively seeking early applications of our technology to solve immediate, tangible problems. This practical mindset led us to focus on virtual training modules. We discovered a set of customers who were not just interested but enthusiastic about our virtual training concept. Their eagerness validated our approach and opened up exciting new possibilities. This customer response has compelled us to research and understand a greenfield market - one that we realize we're uniquely positioned to serve. By balancing our aspirations with practical, in-demand applications, we're not just dreaming of the future - we're actively shaping it.
